SAPIRA MACHIA is a contemporary fashion brand rooted in Madagascar, translating the island’s cultural memory into bold staples and urban silhouettes.

The brand was born from a realisation: Madagascar’s history exists in fragments—within homes, families, and personal archives—but remains largely undocumented and inaccessible.

While other cultures have preserved and institutionalised their past, much of Malagasy heritage risks being lost or overlooked.

SAPIRA MACHIA exists to bring that memory into the present through design.

Each garment becomes more than a product—it acts as a medium through which culture is carried forward, made visible, and worn in a modern context.

Over time, the brand contributes to both cultural preservation and awareness, while supporting future infrastructure for education and community development.

Having not grown up in Madagascar, I found myself distanced from my own cultural roots.

What followed was a deeper exploration through my family archives, objects, and inherited memory revealing a history that felt both personal and unfamiliar.

SAPIRA MACHIA exists as a way to reconnect, to translate that discovery into something visible and current.
